Why does Speed matter so much in Steal An Egg?

Every steal in Steal An Egg is a footrace. You grab an egg from another player’s base, and the trip home is the dangerous part: the egg’s owner — and anyone else in the 7-player server — can try to stop you. Speed is the stat that decides whether that trip ends with the egg hatching in your base or back in theirs.

Speed matters on defense too. When someone grabs one of your eggs, catching them before they reach home is how you keep your collection. And because rare eggs appear on a community-observed ~5-minute cycle (see the rare egg predictor), being fast enough to matter is what turns spawn timing into actual profit.

How to measure your training rate

Training rates are not published by the developer, and any site quoting one number is guessing — rates depend on your upgrades and multipliers. Measure your own instead:

1. Note your current Speed.
2. Train on the treadmill for exactly 5 minutes with your usual setup.
3. Subtract, divide the gain by 5 — that is your personal rate in Speed per minute.
4. If you run with a multiplier active, enter it in the multiplier field instead of re-measuring.

Re-measure after major upgrades; your rate changes as your base and treadmill improve.

How to use the verdict before a risky steal

The verdict line is a pre-flight check:

• READY — you have reached your target Speed. The steal you were planning is on.
• TRAIN x MORE — you are short. The estimate tells you roughly how much treadmill time stands between you and the target, so you can decide whether to grind now or pick a safer egg.

A practical workflow: pick the Speed you believe you need for the steals you want to attempt, check the verdict, and only then plan around rare spawns with the predictor. Timing tells you when to run; this tells you whether you are fast enough to survive the run.
